Can you guess which brand of clothes this man wants for Christmas?

There is no part of the human body that can't be seen using any of the multiple different types of scanners that we use in radiology. But sometimes we can also gather a great deal of information about what is outside of the body.

This particular gentleman had a liking for sportswear by a certain German manufacturer.

This image is reconstructed from the data of a CT scan. The CT scan essentially gives us a block of data which can then be manipulated in many different ways. One method is to develop a virtual body, the contours of which are determined by how the CT scan defines the edges of the body. The data also includes parameters like the density of objects and tissues. In this case, the logo is printed with a dense material, so is picked up quite well on the scan. Incidentally, in the lower part of the image, there is some gauze being held by bandages. The gauze is covering a stab wound.

So if you ever need a scan, remember that we can see everything, right down to your choice of clothing brand!
